First Round of Forms (I-600A)

Today we downloaded the Advance Processing of Orphan Petition and filled it out to express mail it to the Embassy in Tokyo. This gets the Department of State ball rolling.  Please see my follow up comment for specifics.

    Just for the record you will need to send in copies of your birth and marriage certificates originating from the registrar of the county you were born in, and your fingerprint cards along with your Cashier’s Check for $670.00 USD. We had extra copies of these documents on hand, but from experience it can take over a month to get the documents back to you from the states once you send out the proper forms and fees for the copies. . . . . . . Suggestion: if you are thinking of adopting, order a few copies of these important documents and have them on hand for the right time. We will be ordering a few more copies just in case the country we are adopting from requires these documents as well.
